Itinerary

Day 1: Errachidia → Erfoud → Merzouga Desert

Pickup in Errachidia and journey south through the majestic landscapes of the pre-Sahara. After visiting the fossil cooperatives in Erfoud, we arrive at the golden dunes of Merzouga. Mount your camel for a classic trek across the high dunes of Erg Chebbi, arriving at your luxury desert oasis in time for dinner, campfire stories, and live drumming.

Day 2: Full Merzouga Desert Excursion

An immersive day exploring the Sahara's cultural tapestry. We drive deep into the dunes to visit nomadic settlements, experience the spiritual, soulful sounds of Gnawa music in Khamlia village, and explore the historic trading post of Rissani. Return to your luxury camp for an evening of peaceful desert solitude.

Day 3: Merzouga → Ziz Valley → Midelt → Cedar Forest → Fes

We leave the desert behind and head north, passing the beautiful, deep-cut gorges of the Ziz River. We climb into the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping for a lunch break in the high-altitude town of Midelt. Afterward, we drive through the ancient, towering Cedar Forest of Azrou, where we will pause to see the friendly, wild Barbary macaque monkeys. After a final stop in the clean, Swiss-style alpine town of Ifrane, we arrive at your riad in the historic heart of Fes.

What is the best time of year to visit the Sahara?
October to April offers the most comfortable temperatures (15–25°C / 59–77°F during the day). July and August are very hot but manageable with proper preparation. The desert is beautiful year-round.
