Itinerary
Day 1: Casablanca - Rabat - Rif Mountains - Chefchaouen
Today, we will pick you up from your accommodation in Casablanca and drive along the Atlantic Ocean towards Rabat, the current capital and one of the imperial cities of Morocco. Our first stop will be at the Oudaya Kasbahs, an authentic fortress against the Atlantic Ocean. We will then visit the Hassan Tower, Rabat's most prominent landmark, and take a glimpse of the Mausoleum of the former kings of the Royal Family located next to the tower. We will then move to the Royal Palace, where the current royal family resides. Afterwards, we will visit the Chalah, a Phoenician sloping site above the Bou Regreg river. Next, we will head towards Chefchaouen, driving through the rolling fields of wheat and barley and the stunning scenery of the Rif Mountains. In the evening, we will arrive in Chefchaouen, a picturesque city nestled beneath the peaks of the Rif Mountains, known for its blue-washed houses and streets. We will drop you off at your accommodation, where you can rest before treating yourself to a memorable walk through Morocco's prettiest town.
Day 2: Chefchaouen at Leisure - Fes
Today, our destination is Fes, Morocco’s most historical and culturally rich city. Enjoy a relaxed morning at leisure in Chefchaouen, giving you time to wander the charming blue streets, take photographs, or enjoy a coffee in the medina. After your morning at leisure, we will depart for Fes, traveling through scenic landscapes and the Rif Mountains. Day 3: Fes SIghtseeing Escorted by a Local Guide
Today, enjoy a full-day guided walking tour of Fes, one of Morocco’s most historic and culturally rich cities, with an experienced local guide. Explore the ancient streets of the Medina and step back in time to experience Morocco’s traditional charm, heritage, and vibrant culture. Visit the famous Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud), the iconic entrance to Fes Medina, followed by the Quaraouine Mosque, one of the oldest universities in the world. Discover the Madrassa Bou Inania, a stunning example of Moroccan Islamic architecture and one of Fes’s finest theological colleges. Stroll through the bustling Fes Medina Souks, where artisans sell handcrafted goods, traditional textiles, and unique Moroccan souvenirs. Continue to the historic Tanneries, an iconic site where you can witness centuries-old leather-making techniques still practiced today. Your knowledgeable guide will also be available to help you explore additional hidden gems and local experiences within the city. At the end of the day, you will be escorted back to your riad in Fes, completing a rich cultural immersion into the heart of Morocco.
Day 4: Fes - Ifrane - Merzouga Sahara Desert
Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your riad in Fes and begin the journey to the Merzouga Desert. Our first stop is Ifrane, often called the "Switzerland of Morocco" for its clean streets, modern architecture, and alpine charm. Nearby, we will visit the Azrou Cedar Forest, home to the playful Barbary apes, a type of macaque native to Morocco, where you can observe these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. Continuing south, we will pass through Midelt, known as the "country of apples," where you can enjoy lunch before following the scenic route through the Atlas Mountains along the Ziz Valley. We will reach Er-Rachidia, the gateway to the Sahara Desert and southern Morocco, then drive past the Ziz Oasis, dotted with palm groves and traditional Berber villages, arriving in Erfoud, famous for its ancient fossils. Finally, we will reach the golden Erg Chebbi dunes, where you will check in at your hotel near the dunes before beginning a camel ride across the desert to your luxury desert camp. Experience a magical night under the stars with traditional Berber music around the campfire, creating unforgettable memories of the Sahara Desert.
Day 5: Sahara Desert - Todra Gorges - Dades Gorges
Start your day with a sunrise hike to the tallest nearby dune in the Merzouga Desert, followed by breakfast and a refreshing shower at your luxury desert camp. After soaking in the magical desert morning, depart for your journey through southern Morocco. Your first stop is Rissani, one of Morocco’s historic trading towns. Explore the bustling souks and local markets, experiencing the authentic daily life of this small yet vibrant desert town. Continue to Tinghir, a former caravan trading hub, and visit the spectacular Todgha Gorges. These dramatic limestone canyons rise up to 300 meters and are carved by the waters flowing from the Anti-Atlas Mountains, creating breathtaking scenery perfect for photography and exploration. Next, travel along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs and enter the scenic Dades Valley, known as the "country of figs." Admire the diverse landscapes, lush valleys, and traditional Berber villages along the way. Spend the night in the Dades Gorges, enjoying stunning views of green fields filled with fig and walnut trees and the serene beauty of southern Morocco.
Day 6: Dades Gorges - Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - High Atlas - Marrakech
After breakfast, depart from the Dades Gorges and travel toward Marrakech, passing through the scenic Imgoun Valley (Valley of Roses) and the Skoura Oases. Stop at the historic Amridil Kasbah, dating back to the 17th century and renowned as one of Morocco’s most authentic kasbahs. Continue to Ouarzazate, famously known as the Cinema Capital of Morocco, where many international films and series have been shot. Visit the Touaririrt Kasbah, one of the city’s main attractions, before proceeding to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This red mudbrick fortified village dates back to the 11th-century caravan era and has served as a backdrop for films such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Cross the dramatic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka pass (2,260 meters), enjoying panoramic mountain views along the way. Arrive in Marrakech, marking the conclusion of your 6-day Sahara Desert adventure. Guests will be dropped off at their accommodation in the old city or at Marrakech Menara Airport, completing a memorable journey through Morocco’s imperial cities, Atlas Mountains, and Sahara Desert.
