Itinerary

1

Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Midelt → Ziz Valley

Depart from Fes in an air-conditioned 4x4 or minivan and traverse the Middle Atlas Mountains, home to lush cedar forests and roaming Barbary monkeys. Visit the picturesque Berber villages of Ifrane and Azrou, known for their charming architecture and local markets. Continue through Midelt, famous for its stunning mountain scenery, and drive into the Ziz Valley, one of Morocco's most scenic palm-lined oases.

Overnight: Midelt at Villa Midelt Or Pomme D'or

2

Day 2: Ziz Valley → Erfoud → Merzouga

Drive through the dramatic landscapes of Erfoud, a gateway town to the Sahara Desert, known for its fossil quarries and desert scenery. Arrive in Merzouga, where you embark on a sunset camel trek across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes, capturing stunning desert photographs as the sun sets over the Sahara. Optional activity: Evening desert stroll and stargazing under the Sahara sky.

Overnight: Merzouga luxury desert camp – Tiziri Camp or Sahara Eden Camp

3

Day 3-4: Erg Chebbi Desert Exploration

Two unforgettable days at the heart of the Sahara experience — immersed in the extraordinary world of Erg Chebbi. Each morning begins before dawn: wake for the Sahara sunrise, one of the great natural spectacles on earth. The sky transforms from deep indigo through violet and rose to a blazing copper-gold as the first light strikes the 150-metre dune crests, illuminating each ripple and ridgeline in extraordinary clarity before the sun climbs and the desert's golden monotone reasserts itself. Breakfast at camp is a Berber ritual: msemen flatbread, amlou (a thick paste of ground almonds, argan oil, and honey), fresh medjool dates, boiled eggs, and sweet mint tea served in the traditional three-pour ceremony — the first glass bitter as life, the second strong as love, the third sweet as death. The activities of the two days are yours to shape according to interest and energy. Sunrise and sunset camel treks — riding in traditional fashion as the light transforms the dunes — are the signature experience, led by Berber nomads who navigate these sands by instinct. More physically adventurous guests can try sandboarding on the steeper north-facing dune faces. The 4x4 excursion takes you off-road to Khamlia, the small village of Gnawa musicians whose hypnotic guembri and qraqeb rhythms are performed in the courtyard of the village house with extraordinary power, and to the seasonal desert lake that attracts pink flamingos and migratory wading birds. Explore the Cambrian fossil beds where 500-million-year-old trilobites reveal the prehistoric ocean that once covered this land. Meet nomadic Berber families who share their tea and bread with genuine warmth. Two nights at the desert camp give you the full arc of the Sahara experience: the sunset, the stars, the silence, the pre-dawn chill, and the sunrise.

Overnight: Desert camp – Tiziri Camp or Sahara Eden Camp

Day 5: Merzouga → Rissani → Erfoud → Tinghir → Todra Gorge
